If you enjoy family legacies and romance novels with background and grit, then the Saddleback Ridge Series is perfect for you.

The series starts with Clayton Caldwell handing over his ranch, Falcon Falls, to his four sons. From there you have the privelege of getting to know the town folk and delighting in various romances in your favorite small-town.

If you’re anything like me, you like to know the background of a story. But most times writers leave that to your imagination, although they have it all worked out in their mind. When it comes to the Caldwells, I’ve decided to share my background story with you.

The story of how Boone Caldwell came to settle in the West.

Where it all began in 1876

When Boone Caldwell headed West to find gold, he never could’ve imagined the legacy he would begin. Whilst heading towards the mining towns where prospectors rushed to find their share of wealth, he came accross a little piece of land in the foothills of Colorado.

Instead of continuing on his journey West, he stopped by a small stream to get a drink of water. As he followed the stream he reached a small outcrop of rocks with a waterfall trickling down. A falcon swooped low overhead, it’s cry could be heard for miles around. That’s when Boone knew he wouldn’t leave.

He named his piece of land Falcon Falls and began a homestead like many other people did in the West. It was the year 1876 and the country was still recovering from the Civil War, but Boone wasn’t going to let anything or anyone hold him back from building a dream.

After three years, Boone realized that the small-town of Saddleback Ridge didn’t hold much but liquor and women of ill repute.

His homestead had grown into a ranch, but Boone wanted someone to share it with. He wanted someone to share his dreams of Falcon Falls, someone who could withstand the tough conditions of the West.

Someone who had enough courage to dedicate their life to Falcon Falls.

He dreamed of someone who would not only be kind, generous, and loving, but someone with whom he could build a family.

A legacy.

At first, he wasn’t sure the Matrimonial News was the answer, in his opinion desperate men advertised themselves like cattle at a livestock auction. But somehow Boone found the courage to place an advertisement and hope for t he best.

When Melissa Partridge wrote to him from Boston, it was love at first word. Melissa traveled West only months later and together they began a legacy that Clayton Caldwell and his sons still honor to this day.

Now Available – A Bride for Boone

Ever since I wrote the first book of the Saddleback Ridge Series, Finding Forever, readers have asked me to write Boone Caldwell’s story.

I don’t usually indulge in historical westerns, so instead, I continued with the series as I originally planned.

But now, after numerous requests, emails and comments, I’ve finally decided to give you what you want. Even if you’re not into historical westerns or mail-order bride romances, this is one you’re going to love.

I go back right to the very beginning of Saddleback Ridge. On the first day, Boone Caldwell set foot on the ranch you now know as Falcon Falls. I give you an insight into life in the west and how the Caldwell family legacy was born.
